Overview

Allied Yachts has a solid reputation for building affordable quality boats. With normal care and maintenance, an Allied Yacht will outlive multiple owners and "Sapphire" has had excellent care by her owners and is ready to begin another chapter in her log book. Recently, she has just been used for the occasional "day sail" and no cruises or even an over-night, so inside her cabin has had little use and shows well. More pictures and information will be available in a Dropbox folder so call, text or e-mail if you want to see more of "Saffire"

For more information on the history of Allied Boats see the "External link" at the bottom of the "View Full Specifications Page" or call the listing broker.

Descriptions

General Information

Prior to the current owner purchasing "Sapphire" in 2003, the boat was extensively refitted by the Oxford Boat Yard in 1994/1995..

Since owning her, she has been kept at a private well protected dock up a small creek outside of Oxford, Md.

Routine maintenance has been done by qualified service personnel and the Oxford Boatyard with routine hauling over the winter and bottom painting as necessary.

The latest electronic gadgets have not been needed for the casual use of the boat in local waters, but the important information (depth, speed, wind readings are supplied by B&G equipment.

Harken Roller furler on the Genoa and a Mainsail track and slides make raising the sails easy and simple enough for single or short handed sailing.

The deck and cabin top were painted in 2019

Ocean Marine reverse cycle heating and air conditioning (16,000 BTU) is available at the push of a button.

From Wikipedia

Allied Boat Company was a small manufacturer of fiberglass sailboats built in Catskill, New York.[1] The first design was by Thomas Gillmer in 1960, the 30-foot Seawind. The first hull, Apogee became the first fiberglass boat to circumnavigate the globe in 1968.[2] The company officially formed on February 9, 1962. Until 1981, they built various designs from 30 to 42 feet by naval architects such as Sparkman & Stephens, Bill Luders, and Frank Maclear/Robert Harris. The company went out business four times during the later years. The level of finish below was known to vary in quality. Poor management contributed to their economic woes.[3]

An interesting quote from one of the searches was this:

"Allied 42 XL-2's hold value and generally sell for more than their 1975 factory price list of $68,000."

It's a rare boat that can hold its value as long as an Allied...
